We could not be more proud to recognize him for our July Athlete of the Month!
How long have you been working out at Overland Park CrossFit?
Two years as of this July.
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout? Do you remember what it was?
Not specifically the first day, but I remember before my first workout thinking I knew a lot about lifting. Very quickly I realized I have a lot to learn.
What has been your favorite workout so far?
I’ve loved learning the gymnastics side of working out. The excitement when you finally hit that movement for the first time when you’ve been working so hard on.
What did you want to be when you grew up and where do you work now?
I always wanted to play football in the pro’s. If only I’d been faster, taller and stronger, I could’ve had a chance. I currently work in the Telecommunications Logistics Industry.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Spend time with my family, golf, projects around the house.
What advice would you give a newbie just starting at OPCF?
Be humble and be patient. Be receptive to coaching and know they have your best interest at heart. If you listen and trust them, you will get better. Also, don’t worry about comparing yourself to others. Work on technique and the rest will come.
What is on your bucket list?
I want to travel through Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
Playing Wordle. I love and hate that game.
If your pet could talk, what do you think they might say about you?
“That guy really hates it when I bark at nothing.”
What is your favorite random fact?
1936 and 1980 are as far apart as 1980 and 2024. For those of us that were alive in 1980, that just blows my mind.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
Probably Piano Man because one of the few songs I actually know all the words to by heart.
